With Halloween just around the corner, have you started thinking about costumes for your pet? These costumes can be pricey and there’s no guarantee your pet will even want to keep it on Rather than going out and spending a lot of money, there are plenty of easy DIY costumes you can make for your furry friends! Below are a few of the most adogable costume ideas– many of which can be made with materials you may already have around the house.
Make yourself a puptini!
Chances are if you’ve gotten your pet spayed or neutered, you have a plastic cone collar somewhere in your house. While these cones are traditionally used to keep your pet from irritating their own skin by scratching or biting at it, they also serve as fun Halloween props! Simply put the cone on your pup and then make “olives” by using old tennis balls or even construction paper.
Create a real-life Beanie Baby!
This is one of the easiest costumes that will have everyone saying ‘AW!’. Simply create a heart out of construction paper or another material and write the classic “TY” letters in white. This heart can then be attached to your pet’s collar – and just like that you’ve got yourself a ‘Beanie Baby’! You can take it a step further by writing a description of your pet on the inside of the tag to make it more fun and personalized.
Pet-safe paint can create a skele-dog!
This is a perfect ‘costume’ if you have a black dog and/or a dog who doesn’t like to be restricted by clothing or props. Simply purchase white pet-safe dye or paint and draw on some ‘bones’ to outline a skeleton on your pup! Alternatively, you can use the same idea to turn your dog into a zebra!
